Please describe the problem:
gedit no longer automatically figures out the type of the file and applies the correct highlighting. The type is properly identified in nautilus, so the information should be there.

I can confirm this!. I have no clue on why it happens.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
