GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 538480
translation issues
Last modified: 2008-06-21 17:23:18 UTC
../glom/dialog_existing_or_new.cc:657 "%s on %s (via %s)" quite hard to correctly translate without a translator comment There's a lot of new strings that refer to encodings. IMO it's clearer to also add the ISO number to it, e.g. "Hebrew Visual" -> "Hebrew Visual (ISO-8859-8)". ../glom/glom.glade.h:5 "<b>Import Options</b>" ../glom/glom.glade.h:4 "<b>Import Fields</b>" is import a verb or a noun here? see http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments for how to add comments to glade files. ../glom/glom.glade.h:26 "Importing data" so this is a verb, okay. I guess it's not a status message, like "Glom is currently importing data, please hold the line"? would make the translation different there are several "Layout" strings - for me it's difficult to translate without context, in german some are kept as "Layout", some "Aufbau", some "Struktur". :-/ ../glom/utility_widgets/dragbar.cc:61 "Container" hard to translate without context. :-/
+msgstr "Keine zuletzte benutzten Dokumente vorhanden" "zuletzt" :) :) msgid "Auto Detect" -msgstr "" +msgstr "Auto-Erkennung" "Automatisch erkennen" ? +"Die Datei enthält Daten, die nicht in dem angegebenen Zeichnsatz sind. Bitte " +"wählen Sie einen anderen Zeichensatz, oder wählen Sie »Auto-Erkennung«." Vermutlich dann auch hier »Automatisch erkennen« +"Da keine Felder im Layout existieren, können keine Daten in einem neuen " +"Eintrag eingetragen werden." "Weil ... " ?
Andre, I have now added translator comments for those, apart from all the other mentions of "Layout". Please feel free to add comments for those - I hesitate to do it for each string. Note that layout refers to the arrangement of items (fields, text, pictures, etc) on a form.
Could you (plural) please decide on the appropriate German translations, as mentioned in comment #1. That's not something that I can do.
@Christian: Don't we normally discuss the translations themselves on the german mailing list? ;-) I thought that GEdit already uses "Auto-Erkennung", but it was a translation of "Auto Detected". Fixed everything today (thanks!) and also "Zeichnsatz", but going to keep the "Da" instead of "Weil" (personal preference). -- @Murray: "Don't importing the value" doesn't sound correct to me, but you know better...: #: ../glom/dialog_import_csv_progress.cc:159 "Warning importing row %1: The value for field %2 must be unique, but is " "already in use. Don't importing the value.\n" #: ../glom/dialog_import_csv_progress.cc:168 "Warning importing row %1: The value for field %2, \"%3\" could not be " "converted to the field's type. Don't importing the value.\n"

Don't importing the value.\n" Yeah. I've fixed that in svn. A German was to blame. Please reopen this bug if there's still something here to do.
