GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 536268
UI translation is ignored
Last modified: 2008-09-15 19:44:35 UTC
Please describe the problem: Some of the banshee UI translation is ignored. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set your LC_ALL env var to da_DK.UTF-8 or de_DE.UTF-8 (as these are two complete translations at the moment) 2. Open "Medie->Importér medie" / "Medien->Medien importieren" in the menu Actual results: A dialogue with English text appears. Expected results: The dialogue should display the appropiate strings in the translation Does this happen every time? You bet it does! Other information: It's not only in the dialogue mentioned but in some other places, too, e.g. in the new smart playlist dialogue the "Predefined Smart Playlists" string. I have reproduced this successfully on another computer (running the same distribution, ArchLinux, though).
Some translators have been tracking down strings like these recently, I think most are fixed/flagged for translation now.
Just updated SVN, and the problem is still there. The problem wasn't that they weren't flagged for translation to begin with, but rather that they are translated (it's in a glade file) and the English ones still appear in the UI. What makes it even more interesting is that when I switch to the da_DK locale, some strings still retain German... So I have a mix of German, English and Danish. But because this is so really really weird it might as well be a problem with my system configuration.
This was also seen by jordimas in #banshee on the Track Editor dialog. Philipp says he's running the installed banshee (not make run).
Created attachment 118783 [details] [review] Set the right translation domain for glade files This patch fixes the issue by setting the proper translation domain when loading glade XML files.
Thanks Bertrand, please commit!
