GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 536106
German translation
Last modified: 2008-09-22 15:30:12 UTC
Great tool, I really hope to get more productive by seeing where the time went. I want to contribute the German translation. Thanks for the newbie-friendly howto: http://projecthamster.wordpress.com/2008/03/30/hooray-for-translations/
Created attachment 111909 [details] translation textfile
Thanks for the translations :-) I've just commit your file to the trunk on the subversion.
Can anyone test the trunk version with this translation? I've just try it but it doesn't work properly for me. Some words are translated but not all which are on the file... :-( Any idea?
Which strings are not translated? I guess it's the sample data like "Super secret project X" which is loaded at first-start and then saved to $home
Verified that everything works. Matthias - thanks for translation! Juanje - thanks for the commit! :) German locale will be included in next version.
@Toms, Patryk: In general, can translation files please be passed first to the affected GNOME translation team to get reviewed? Every translation team has some guidelines and terminology... If a new translation file has been attached to a bug report in bugzilla.gnome.org, just reassign the bug report to the L10N component and the affected language (and ask for reassigning back after review as long as hamster is not hosted in gnome svn). Thanks a lot! @Matthias, thanks for the translation! But there's several issue with it: #: ../data/Hamster_Applet.xml.h:1 msgid "_About" msgstr "_Über" must be "_Info" #: ../data/preferences.glade.h:4 msgid "Hamster Applet Preferences" msgstr "Hamster Applet Einstellungen" #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:2 msgid "Keyboard shortcut for showing the Hamster Applet window." msgstr "Tastenkürzel um das Hamster Applet Fenster zu zeigen." so called Deppenleerzeichen #: ../data/preferences.glade.h:6 msgid "Move _Down" msgstr "Runter bewegen" "runter" is not proper german #: ../data/preferences.glade.h:9 #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:7 msgid "Stop tracking on shutdown" msgstr "Beim Herunterfahren die Verfolgung anhalten." #: ../data/preferences.glade.h:10 msgid "Stop tracking when computer becomes idle" msgstr "Im Leerlauf die Verfolgung anhalten." #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:4 msgid "Stop tracking current activity on shutdown" msgstr "Beim Herunterfahren momentane Tätigkeit nicht weiter verfolgen." #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:5 msgid "Stop tracking current activity, when computer becomes idle" msgstr "Wenn sich der Computer im Leerlauf befindet die momentane Tätigkeit nicht weiter verfolgen." why a dot at the end? #: ../data/add_custom_fact.glade.h:3 msgid "A_dd" msgstr "_Hinzu" err. no! not at all!!! #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:1 msgid "After how many minutes hamster should stop tracking activity when computer is idle. Set to 0 to disable." msgstr "Nach wie vielen Minuten soll Hamster aufhören die Aktivitäten zu verfolgen wenn der Computer im Leerlauf ist. Auf 0 setzen zum Abschalten deaktivieren." gconf keys short start with "Legt fest, ..." Please also translate this in a passive construction #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:3 msgid "Show window" msgstr "Zeige Fenster" #: ../data/menu.glade.h:4 msgid "Show _Overview" msgstr "Zeige _Übersicht" Please use passive construction, see http://live.gnome.org/de/UebersetzungsRichtlinien #: ../data/hamster-applet.schemas.in.h:8 msgid "Timeout in minutes" msgstr "Zeitabschaltung in Minuten" i think i wouldn't understand what it means. #: ../hamster/about.py:53 msgid "translator-credits" msgstr "Matthias Mailänder https://launchpad.net/~mailaender" That is not the format that we use. #: ../hamster/db.py:403 msgid "Reading news" msgstr "Nachrichten lesen" #: ../hamster/db.py:404 msgid "Checking stocks" msgstr "Aktienkurse überprüfen" hmm, it's a gerund. Maybe translate to a passive construction?
for contact, German translation mailing list is gnome-de \at\ gnome /dot/ org :)
I will check the translation guidelines and hand it to GNOME L10N quality assurance next time. Thanks for fixing my flaws.
Matthias: Don't get me wrong, help is definitely very appreciated! :-) I was just trying to explain to the hamster maintainers how some stuff (that can be quite confusing) in GNOME works to avoid more work for everybody...
(In reply to comment #8) > Thanks for fixing my flaws. They aren't fixed yet. :-)
Hi Andre, I commited the translation file some time ago. Did I miss something on that translation? BTW, I'm from Spanish l10n team and I got this module (hamster-applet) for the Spanish translation. Who could we contact with for the German l10n team? We like to bring hamster-applet to the right GNOME way ;-) Ops, I've updated the original transtations on all the po files. Could someone check out it and updated the updated the translations? Thanks guys :-)
(In reply to comment #11) > Who could we contact with for the German l10n team? http://l10n.gnome.org/languages/de > We like to bring hamster-applet to the right GNOME way ;-) Yeah, me too of course. Getting it into GNOME SVN and after that having it listed on http://l10n.gnome.org (so called "damned-lies", contact gnome-i18n@ list) is the way to go.
Created attachment 116790 [details] corrected and updated language file I've corrected the translation errors and updated the .po file from CVS head.
I just upload the code. Thanks
marking as fixed since we are in damned lies now.
