Pan newsreader doesn't support latin characters!
Last modified: 2012-08-06 16:54:06 UTC
Package: pan Severity: normal Version: 0.9.7_cvs Synopsis: Pan newsreader doesn't support latin characters! Class: sw-bug Distribution: Red Hat Linux release 6.1 (Cartman) System: Linux 2.2.12-20 i686 unknown C library: glibc-2.1.94-3 C compiler: egcs-2.91.66 glib: 1.2.8 GTK+: 1.2.8 ORBit: ORBit 0.5.6 gnome-libs: gnome-libs 1.2.11 libxml: 1.8.10 gnome-print: gnome-print-0.25 gnome-core: gnome-core 1.2.4 Description: If I display italian (but I think also others language) newsgroup post Pan can't complete lines with accent characters (eg: ò è é ù) and it simply truncates the line at the occurence of that character. When you followup a post the lines it is also truncated but if you try to select with mouse the remaining characters after the accented one magically appear. I think is a bug in the visualization of the text in the gtk box. Last CVS pan (0.9.7_cvs) I have tried also seems to have this problem. I have set verdana true type font as default (if this matters). Please solve this problem: this make reading of italian post impossibile! :( Thanks in advance. Debugging information: 0x4075dca9 in __wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6

0.12.0 completely reworks how fonts & charsets are done. If you'd like to test it, it's in CVS HEAD now and requires gtk2.
Fixed in CVS.
