GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 532891
Browsing from the "Places" side pane doesn't always update the "Location" bar
Last modified: 2009-05-25 08:48:41 UTC
Please describe the problem: From Ubuntu Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/226223 The system is Ubuntu 8.04 with two consecutive updates from 7.04. Nautilus version 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu4. By now I could only reproduce it on a limited set of folders/locations, but it occurs constantly with them. When I double-click a folder in the side pane, nautilus opens it, but leaves the location bar intact, on the folder previously opened. And if I then go back (with the button, or Alt+Left) it assumes I am in the folder specified by the address in the location bar, and skips the initial one, going back twice as far. Single-click works fine. Not really a major problem, but strange behavior indeed. Steps to reproduce: Two folders in my home directory (namely "Downloads" and "Distribs") one of them is a bookmark (first one in the list), and the other one has some subfolders. 1. Browse into one of the subfolders of "Distribs". 2. Double-click the "Downloads" bookmark. For some strange reason this occurs consistently only with some of the subfolders, while starting [1] with the others results in normal behavior. There also seem to be some sort of correlation with list or icon view. As I change to the latter in the folder where I could always reproduce this bug everything seems normal, once I switch it back to list view — same problem. Actual results: The location bar does not update and becomes out of sync with the main part of the window. A screen-recording that demonstrates the anomalies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx2QuefGx0o Expected results: The location bar always displays where the window is viewing Does this happen every time? No. Only the original reporter can reproduce so far. Other information:
Can't reproduce this bug here. Also, Ubuntu 8.04 should always open bookmarks/items in the side pane with a single click, not with double click. Can you verify your Nautilus installation is all set up right? What's the version of Nautilus you're using? Thanks!
The Ubuntu bug report has been closed due to lack of information.
Let's close this one as well, I never managed to reproduce it. Please reopen if this is still valid with an up-to-date Nautilus.
