Currently, AM_MAINTAINER_MODE is not used in configure.in. This macro is very helpful for us distributors since it makes the automatic execution of autoconf/automake/etc. optional.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
