Description Sven Arvidsson 2008-05-09 20:11:21 UTC
[ From http://bugs.debian.org/480391 by Tomas Janousek ]

"Trying to print this PDF:
http://csdl.computer.org/dl/proceedings/focs/1997/8197/00/81970012.pdf causes evince to stop rendering documents and show "Loading" on all pages not in cache. And the document does not get printed. There's no interesting output on the terminal. I experienced this with older versions of evince as well.

(download of the PDF requires some fee or academic subscription, so probably ask someone studying CS to download it for you)"

It seems that the print job never finishes and the other jobs are waiting for the print job to finish. So we need to figure out what's going on with the print job.

I couldn't download the test case file (the link has been moved away). Sven, could you try again with a recent version of Evince+poppler to see if the bug is still here ?
Comment 3 Sven Arvidsson 2009-11-17 19:19:45 UTC
Unfortunately I don't have access to the file, I don't think it's publicly available.

I mailed the original bug reporter to see if he still can reproduce the problem.
Comment 4 Tomas Janousek 2009-11-17 20:32:20 UTC
I can confirm that with evince 2.28.1-1 and libpoppler5 0.12.0-2.1 from Debian unstable this does not happen any more. I tried printing to cups-pdf and although the printed document was empty, evince did not stop working like before.

It'd be nice if it did print the document, but I think I can't just attach it here, as it would violate some policy (it's some computer science article about shortest paths from 1997, and I can access it only from my university's IP range).
Comment 5 Emmanuel Fleury 2009-11-17 21:31:28 UTC
Ok, so I'm closing this issue if you don't mind. ;-)
Comment 6 Tomas Janousek 2009-11-17 21:38:30 UTC
Ok. If I happen to come across some other document that can't be printed, I'll file a relevant bugreport.
