I've been working on a quick and easy change animation to the stocks. 
Calendar, People, and File stocks come to mind when I think of using this kind
of animation.  The intention is to be subtle yet noticeable, modeled partially
after google reader and how it animates changes to the number of unread entries
in a feed.

"Bigboard" will not see active development anymore according to one of its developers (Colin).
Closing this report as WONTFIX - Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
