GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 531068
[PLUGIN-MOVE] move ladspa back to -good
Last modified: 2014-02-03 12:06:00 UTC
I do not remember the details anymore, but I seem to remember that the ladspa move to bad was meant to be temporary until the plugin saw some more testing, which is have by now. Could be other things missing too, but I figured I should post this bug to at least start the process of getting it back into good.
If I remember correctly, it was moved from -good to -bad because it was marked as 'experimental' in -good, so distros wouldn't necessarily ship it, but jokosher wanted to use it, so moving to -bad meant it would at least be shipped by default.
Talked to Laszlok and he said he would try to look at some other metaplugin docs to see if the ladspa plugin docs should/could be improved.
IIRC another problem with the ladspa plugin is the completely inintuitive way of using multichannel audio: Currently it creates one pad per channel. This can only be worked around a bit by implementing some magic to detect from the textual description of the ladspa plugins in/outputs whether these two are meant as one stereo input or whatever. Talk to Stefan about this :) And then AFAIK the segment handling of the ladspa plugin is not optimal... and if one searches for FIXME in the sources some other places of improvement are found.
Closing this as I don't see the point of the bug report anymore :)
