GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 530415
Automatically select the user in gdm when switching
Last modified: 2011-06-10 12:25:32 UTC
Hello, A patch from Fedora people, also used by Ubuntu ... and me (Archlinux user) make it possible to have the user automatically selected in gdm when switching with fusa : With this patch, when a user switches to another user not already logged in, the new user is automatically selected in gdm and he only needs to enter its password. No need to select its username with the mouse or the arrow keys. I have used this patch with fusa-2.20 and reapplied it with fusa-2.22.0. Please find attached this patch, and thank you very much for considering this enhancement ! Cheers, Chicha

Sounds useful-- thanks. fusa will possibly be merged with its corresponding applet in gdm at some point soon, but I'll try to ensure that all relevant patches are moved over too.
Thank you very much !
Chica: I want to commit this. Can I have the name and email address of the creator for the changelog, please?
Hello Thomas, I think you should contact Matthias Clasen <mclasen@redhat.com> for more info about who did this change (I think it is Matthias himself but am not sure). I only took the patch from Fedora's packages ... I hope it hepled ! Thank you very much for including this patch ! Cheers, Chicha
fast-user-switch-applet development has been stalled and it has been unmaintained for a few years now. Maintainers don't have future development plan so i am closing the bugs as WONTFIX. Please feel free to reopen the bugs in future if anyone takes the responsibility of active development.
