GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 527772
Register should show when a transaction has been compared with a merchant receipt
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:03:29 UTC
With the introduction of online banking, transactions often enter my register through a bank import instead of through manual entry of merchant receipts. This leaves me open to bank errors, unexpected fees, erroneous transaction amounts, and fraudulent transactions. I need a way to tell which transactions I have compared against the merchant receipt. The risk is exacerbated because GnuCash imports OFX files in the reconciled "c" state. A fraudulent transaction looks in the register like a transaction I have manually entered and checked as cleared. I propose an optional column: "V" for verified. I would only put an X in this column on transactions that I have verified against a merchant receipt. That would make it easy to identify transactions reported by my bank which I did not initiate. It would also help me catch errors in purchase amount. Please consider this feature request.
