Description Mike McWay 2008-03-27 02:41:46 UTC
banshee should recognize and import *.divx and *.mov files as well as the slightly supported *.flv video files
Comment 1 Mike McWay 2008-03-27 02:45:33 UTC
just noticed my *.mkv files are also not imported, but those don't play very well with gstreamer
Comment 2 Igor Guerrero Fonseca 2008-03-27 03:03:08 UTC
Banshee rely its playback in the gstreamer framework... does totem(gstreamer version) play your movies?
Comment 3 Mike McWay 2008-03-28 05:07:05 UTC
yes of course, wouldn't have filed if not.

are problems with seeking in *.flv files and *.mkv don't play perfectly but totem still plays all those.

pretty sure most *.divx files are really avi files with a different extension

mkv files play find here with H264 video and AC3/vorbis/mp3 audio, I am sure other codecs work, but this is all I have tested. Chapters and internal subs don't play correctly, but this does not stop playing of the first video and audio track inside my mkv files :)

Also, I'm currently working on making the Matroska support in GStreamer better so that shouldn't be a show stopper and most files already play fine since a long time.

Only thing missing is taglib-sharp support for Matroska... or banshee using GStreamer as fallback if taglib-sharp doesn't work.

Comment 9 Andrew Conkling 2008-08-17 18:23:53 UTC
From bug 547974, it seems that one can play Matroska files via Media > Open Location, so it seems (at least for Matroska files) to be a problem only in importing.
Comment 10 Richard Venneman 2008-10-01 22:02:59 UTC
I can open .mov files that way but only sound will play. No video and can't import either.
Comment 11 Andrew Conkling 2008-10-02 21:31:28 UTC
Richard, that sounds like a different bug; can you please file a new one?

And can anyone else confirm that MOV files are imported now? If so, we can update the bug description and version to account for what's working already.
Comment 12 Gabriel Burt 2008-10-03 18:32:05 UTC
.mov files don't import for me.
Comment 13 Gabriel Burt 2008-10-03 20:36:36 UTC
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
