Description sam tygier 2008-03-26 17:35:34 UTC
If i go to a site that has an invalid security certificate, epiphany refuse to load the page and gives a secure connection failed page.

eg https://grid-voms.desy.de:8443/voms/ilc/

"Secure Connection Failed

grid-voms.desy.de:8443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

    * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

    * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…"

clicking on the add exception link reveals
"You should not add an exception if you are using an internet connection that you do not trust completely or if you are not used to seeing a warning for this server.

If you still wish to add an exception for this site, you can do so in your advanced encryption settings."

There is no hint to where one might find the advanced encryption settings, and what option to change.

Firefox 3 gives a similar message, but has a button you can press to add the exception. This seem like the best solution to me.

Probably duplicate of bug 521367 (or other way around)
Comment 2 Reinout van Schouwen 2008-04-02 14:27:18 UTC
*** Bug 521367 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 3 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-04-02 14:31:23 UTC
How older bug can be a duplicate? Is it sane?
Comment 4 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-04-02 14:32:01 UTC
Here's 26.03.2008, while mine is from 09.03.2008.
Comment 5 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-04-02 14:34:12 UTC
THIS bug is dupe, not mine.
RESOLVE as DUPLICATE of #521367.

Matej said what I'm saying now, but you, Reinout marked mine as dupe...
Comment 6 Christian Persch 2008-04-02 14:46:19 UTC
This is fixed in trunk and 2-22, except that the dialogue doesn't autofill the URL.
Comment 7 Reinout van Schouwen 2008-04-02 15:01:53 UTC
*** Bug 521367 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 8 Reinout van Schouwen 2009-01-22 20:40:26 UTC
Obsolete, as we dropped the Mozilla backend in trunk.
Comment 9 Rolf Leggewie 2011-07-25 16:34:02 UTC
well, I'm using 2.30.2 in lucid and the problem is not fixed, it's actually gotten worse.

"Unable to load page

Problem occurred while loading the URL https://grid-voms.desy.de:8443/voms/ilc/

SSL handshake failed: A TLS fatal alert has been received."

and then a "Try again" button. I'd appreciate if this ticket was reopened unless the trunk version does indeed handle this properly. I'm sorry I cannot test this at the moment.
