This bug is original reported in ubuntu under https://bugs.launchpad.net/deskbar-applet/+bug/200889
There was a bug that Deskbar didn't detect the Tomboy version correctly. It was fixed in 2.22.0.1. Could you please update to this version and tell me if the bug still exists?

#532288 is a duplicate, with a useful comment that I'll paste: Comment #1 from bran.damage@gmail.com (reporter, points: 1) 2008-05-09 05:52 UTC Note: In Deskbar-applet 2.22.1 under preferences I had NOT told the search tool to search tomboy notes. Once I added tomboy as a search domain the problem cleared up. Before that I had gotten the same error 3 times doing different searches. After including tomboy in the search preferences the error stopped.

Can someone still reproduce this with Deskbar >= 2.22.3?

Thing is that for the first time, it seems like tomboy is in an inconsistent state, because it's in the activated block but without the check, if you check and uncheck it, it will not crash anymore... It's probably some weird thing between 2.22->2.24?
No, no. I'm still using 2.22
