Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so and reopen this bug or report a new one. Thanks in advance!

If you're using totem-gstreamer could you install the gstreamer debug packages and reproduce the stack trace please? If you're using totem-xine, could you instead install the xine debug packages? Thanks.

here is the info I got after installing the gstreamer dubug packages.
I hope this helps.

> Could not initialize GStreamer: Error re-scanning reg
> *** Gnome Registry Session: yes.

Looks like a corrupted GStreamer registry. Let's see what the GStreamer people say.
Comment 6 Tim-Philipp Müller 2008-04-13 20:14:52 UTC
"Error re-scanning registry: ..." usually happens when it can't load one of the plugins for some reason. It should give you the reason there, but it looks like that part of the output is missing.

Still, the debug traces are not useful at all I'm afraid.

If you can still reproduce this, maybe you could run it like this from a terminal:

 $ GST_DEBUG=*:5 totem 2>dbg.log
  ... wait for the crash ...
 $ gzip dbg.log

and attach the dbg.log file?
