Description Willie Walker 2008-02-27 15:31:45 UTC
This is a "GNOME Outreach Program: Accessibility" task for candidates to suggest their own idea that fits within the USD$6K/6mo timeframe.

Is there something from the http://live.gnome.org/action/edit/Accessibility/GetInvolved page that you think you can do for USD$6K in a 6 month timeframe? Is there some other innovative thing you have thought of that is not on the list? Please let us know. The best idea will get the go ahead.
Comment 1 Willie Walker 2008-02-27 15:32:33 UTC
PS - We're just using the at-spi module as a place to hold this task. The proposals need not be restricted to the AT-SPI.
Comment 2 Brad Paulsen 2008-03-04 11:12:33 UTC
I claim this Task (Fix Speech)
Comment 3 Brad Paulsen 2008-03-04 11:15:45 UTC
I claim this Task (Migrate Away From CORBA (ORBit/Bonobo)
Comment 4 Brad Paulsen 2008-03-04 15:41:25 UTC
I wish to relinquish the claim to Task "Migrate Away From CORBA (ORBit/Bonobo)." I initially thought the task "AT-SPI on D-Bus" was a sub-task (the title font appears to be smaller than the one for "Migrate Away...." and it seemed to make sense from an technical standpoint). On second examination, however, "AT-SPI on D-Bus" appears to be a separate task and the one I was really interested in claiming. If I am guilty of second-guessing myself, please advise. Otherwise, my claim for the "AT-SPI on D-Bus" task will be in the next comment from me following this one.
Comment 5 Brad Paulsen 2008-03-04 15:42:17 UTC
I claim this Task (AT-SPI on DBus)
Comment 6 Brad Paulsen 2008-03-04 16:02:11 UTC
Ugh! I really apologize for littering up this item with my foolishness. Turns out I didn't have it wrong initially. The "AT-SPI on DBus" _was_ intended to be part of the "Migrate Away From CORBA (ORBit/Bonobo)" task and not a separated task. I didn't find the "Migrate Away..." task from the GetInvolved page menu (which makes it abundantly clear that "AT-SPI on DBus" is, in fact, part of the "Migrate away..." task). I found it when I was browsing down from the "Fix Speech" task (which I did find via the menu). If I'd got to it from the menu on the GetInvolved page all of this would have been avoided. Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So, I'll take back my original claim to "Migrate Away From CORBA (ORBit/Bonobo)" although you may already be wondering if I can handle one task let alone the two I'm claiming. Sigh. Please let my previous claim stand and ignore the separate claim for "AT-SPI on DBus."

My proposal will make clear why I think these two tasks can be accomplished as part of a single six-month project. Thanks.

Hey guys!!

This is my idea:

http://www.flaper87.org/2008/05/21/mousetrap-an-accessible-control-of-the-mouse-via-web-cam

It is about a Low Cost Web Cam mouse control, that will allow people with movement impairments to control the mouse pointer using a low cost web cam and their faces.

There's a complete description in the link. I was going to paste it here but I thought it was kind of long.

Hope you like it

Bests

Comment 9 Willie Walker 2008-07-15 14:47:45 UTC
The task is yours! Go for it. Would you be amenable to putting the code into GNOME SVN if we can convince the powers to be to create a new module for us?
Comment 10 David Bolter 2008-07-15 15:04:43 UTC
Good luck!
Comment 11 Flavio Percoco Premoli 2008-07-15 15:15:23 UTC
@willie

There's no problem with putting the code into GNOME SVN, so just let me know when/how/where and I'll commit the code.

For now it is in my svn and this is the trac: http://mousetrap.flaper87.org/trac/

thanks to all

Hey Flavio, did you get your code in GNOME's svn yet?. If not, please ask for an account in http://mango.gnome.org and later check the SVN docs, if you have any question let us know.

@Diego

Yeap, I'm using the Gnome's svn account:

http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/mousetrap/

And this is the Gnome's MouseTrap page:

http://live.gnome.org/MouseTrap
