Description Patrick Ohearn 2008-02-19 12:27:16 UTC
It would be great if the workspace swithcer had hotness like the alt+tab window switcher.

Ideas:
  * Show a preview of all workspaces when switching, but an actual one rather than just icnos. Might me a bit to large with alots of workspaces (>4?)
  * 'Slide' effect when changing workspace, would add needed hotness.
  * Any other ideas?

I think that's a really good idea-- it's a shame that the workspace switcher (and also the ctrl-alt-tab window switcher), for completeness) don't use the same code. I doubt it would be hard to implement, but Iain would know. Iain, I'm sending this one your way...

I sort of had this working, but there were issues with Render's scaling that made it screw up. due to the way the alt-tab switcher is written was requiring many ugly hacks in the code, so I never continued working on it.

* 'Slide' effect when changing workspace, would add needed hotness.

I have been thinking about this one recently, would probably not be too hard although I'm not sure how fast Render would be at doing it, but possibly worth trying.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use metacity and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
