GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 514881
Evince displays math equations incorrectly in dvi file
Last modified: 2018-05-22 13:20:56 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/162111 "Binary package hint: evince I am using Evince to view a TexLive compilation of an Optics Express paper that I am trying to submit in DVI format. The paper displays correctly in xdvi, but not in Evince. Evince is much better in general than xdvi, so I would prefer to use it. Evince does not display many parts of my math equations correctly. It seems to be some kind of font issue, but I cannot figure out how to fix it. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10336225/Screenshot-OpEx_style2.dvi.png Screenshot of incorrect display (196.4 KiB, image/png) Here is a Screen shot of the incorrectly displayed equation http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10336226/Screenshot-XDVI-OpEx_style2.dvi.png Screenshot of correct display (146.5 KiB, image/png) Here is a Screen shot of the correctly displayed equation as displayed by xdvi http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10336227/OpEx_style2.dvi Actual DVI file (70.8 KiB, application/x-dvi) Here is the dvi in question"
When opening it with evince I can see a lot of error and warning messages in stdout: OpEx_style2.dvi[5]: Error: font 1 is not defined OpEx_style2.dvi[5]: Warning: zptmcm7y: vf macro had errors
hmm, xdvi also shows warnings: $ xdvi OpEx_style2.dvi Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset althought it works anyway.
Some progress with this bug? I just check the date of report.
