Empathy needs a user friendly GUI to configure IRC accounts.

I started to implement this. I want to offer the best user experience as possible so implemented a IRC network manager system. We can provide a list of default IRC networks and user can override them.

The GUI isn't finished yet but the backend should be ok. So you can start to review the libempathy and check part.

Merged to HEAD.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
