Description Marco Zehe 2008-01-22 20:03:55 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When using Orca and Accerciser together (both Trunk versions), it often happens that Orca reports tree node names/content incorrectly once you get to level 6 or higher in the hierarchy of a Mozilla product such as Firefox or Thunderbird. It tends to happen more often when uparrowing than downarrowing, but it is usually not possible to traverse the complete hierarchy at all because at some point Orca will lose track of where Accerciser is.
Joanie has confirmed the problem as well.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
1. Start Orca.
2. Start Accerciser.
3. Start Firefox or Thunderbird.
4. navigate to the Mozilla product's hierarchy and start expanding the panels and tabs assocuated with traversing a document.

Result: Somewhere on level 6 or deeper, Orca will start reporting items from level 6 above, which is usually the document node. From that point on, Orca will not regain control of the actual point of focus.

Actual results:
Orca loses track.

Expected results:
Orca should keep track of where the focus is and report correct tree table contents.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
Latest at-spi as well as Orca and Accerciser trunk. Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 with all official updates.

I was not able to reproduce this. But I have noticed that tree navigation when Firefox is running is extremely slow in Orca.

Please try the patch in bug 512503. It should speed things up considerably, and maybe things won't go out of sync.

It seems that when the accessible tree view is interrogated enough, it will go out of synch. It doesn't matter if it is firefox or not.
Comment 3 Aline Bessa 2011-06-20 21:41:10 UTC
It seems this bug was already solved. Joanie and me tested it with levels higher than 6 and the behavior is as expected.

Maybe this bug should be closed.
Comment 4 Javier Hernández 2011-07-24 17:29:59 UTC
I can't reproduce the bug, the behaviour is as expected with more than 6 levels too.

Marco, if you're still experimenting this problems with current master, please, feel free to reopen the issue.

Regards!
