Description Pedro de Medeiros 2008-01-18 04:59:11 UTC
#: ../libnautilus-private/apps_nautilus_preferences.schemas.in.h:10
msgid "Custom Background Set"

This line is confusing. "Set" could be interpreted as a noun, like in "set of custom backgrounds", but that would be wrong, since "set" is a verb. I recommend renaming it to "Custom Background" only.

#: ../libnautilus-private/nautilus-file-operations.c:1881
msgid ""
"In order to regain the free space on this volume the trash must be emptied. "
"All trashed items on the volume will be permanently lost. "
#: ../src/file-manager/fm-properties-window.c:2813
msgid "Total capacity: "
#: ../src/file-manager/fm-properties-window.c:2822
msgid "Filesystem type: "

There's an extra space at the end of the line. That's error-inducing.

#: ../libnautilus-private/nautilus-file-operations.c:4018
msgid "Creating links in to \"%B\""

That's probably a error. Should be "into".

#: ../src/Nautilus_shell.server.in.h:4
msgid "Nautilus shell"

What is this shell exactly? Anything like sh, or just another name for "Nautilus window" or "folder"? A comment might help.

#: ../src/file-manager/fm-directory-view.c:6161
msgid "No templates Installed"

Why is "Installed" uppercase while "templates" is not?

msgid "--"

Should this be translatable? Maybe this could use a comment.

#: ../src/nautilus-connect-server-dialog-main.c:111
msgid ""
"\n"
"\n"
"Add connect to server mount"

An explanation about what it means exactly might help to better translate it. All why all the "\n"? Can't we make them untranslatable?

#: ../src/nautilus-file-management-properties.glade.h:1
msgid " "

This should not be translatable.

Can we remove all this HTML crust?
Comment 2 Pedro de Medeiros 2008-01-18 05:16:07 UTC
#: ../src/nautilus-navigation-window-menus.c:114
msgid "If you do, you will be doomed to repeat it."

Do what exactly? Please comment this line.

Hi Pedro, please post these issues also on the nautilus mailing list at nautilus-list@gnome.org (you have to subscribe to it before posting), so that they can be solved more quickly. Thanks!
Comment 4 Kjartan Maraas 2008-01-18 14:12:50 UTC
I think actually fixing the strings and posting the patch on the list will speed this up even more :-)
Comment 5 Pedro de Medeiros 2008-01-18 15:40:29 UTC
I don't know how to fix some of these issues. Maybe if you point me to some directions about:

* comment #2;
* what is a "nautilus shell";
* the meaning of "Add connect to server mount"
* what to do with 'msgid "--"'?

I could send a patch.

how to avoid it? just removing it alters the meaning, these are probably headings. not every languages has semantics for boldification.

Doesn't seem be a problem for other glade interface files that go by a much simpler and compact "<b>[...]</b>" solution.
Comment 8 Alexander Larsson 2008-01-22 10:27:43 UTC
I fixed most of these.
