Description Bill Nottingham 2008-01-16 01:49:40 UTC
(Originally filed at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=428901)

In gnome-keyboard-properties, under 'Layout Options', there is:

 Ctrl key position
[ ] Make CapsLock an additional Ctrl

This would appear to be analagous to the old 'Options "XkbOptions"
"ctrl:nocaps"' in xorg.conf. And if I set it, it behaves the same with one big
exception: the capslock LED still toggles whenever I hit the key, even though it
acts as 'Ctrl'. Setting the option in xorg.conf causes the LED to not trigger.

I have similar problem with "Swap ESC and CapsLock" options in newest Ubuntu Hardy (1.4.2008). Esc and Capslock are swapped correctly, but the LED reacts on capslock key not on Esc (now capslock).

AFAIK it is broken indicator handling in the latest Xorg. It was reported many times (and hopefully already fixed).
