GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 508845
Go to page immediately jumps back if used after find
Last modified: 2009-01-19 13:18:49 UTC
[ From http://bugs.debian.org/460283 by Andrey ] "This bug is not critical yet extremely annoying. To reproduce: 1) Open any multipage document in evince. 2) Hit "/" and search for something. Assume you are now on page N. Do not hit Enter. Do not close the search panel. 3) Use "Go to page" input box on the toolbar to go to page say M != N. Enter inputbox by selecting the whole number. The search panel will close as soon as you enter the input box (I find it pretty normal). Enter the number of desired page and hit Enter. Evince will go to the page specified, but then will immediately go back. Sounds complicated, but this is quite common workflow for me. I often search something in the table of contents, then select the current page number so I can begin typing the new one without having to erase anything, and enter the desired page number followed by Enter. It is really annoying to discover that you have to repeat the operation because evince jumps back."
I can confirm it, please fix it as this is very annoying. Thanks :)
is this still reproducible for you guys with evince 2.22? I can't reproduce it. Thanks.
Unfortunately yes, you can use this document for tests: http://urtica.linuxnews.pl/~kbryd/test_document.pdf when you open it do following: 1. ctrl-f and type addnote 2. click on a line with "Abort" (which is just a few lines above) 3. evince should jump to page 36 but instead it jumps to page 3 4. when you click on a line with "Abort" again it will jump to page 36 as expected
Ok, I finally managed to reproduce it. I have just committed a patch to svn trunk. Could you confirm the problem is really fixed for you, please?
