GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 507195
Power Manager wrongly reports problem with suspend after resume completes
Last modified: 2009-03-04 14:48:58 UTC
Please describe the problem: When I successfully suspend and then resume my laptop. The gnome power manager applet reports a problem with suspend and prompts me to visit the quirks site. Steps to reproduce: 1. Suspend the laptop using the Gnome Power Manager Applet. 2. Resume using the power button (This is the only way to resume on the Dell Inspiron 6400) Actual results: Laptop resumes successfully. Gnome Power manager reports a problem has occurred. Expected results: Laptop resumes successfully. [No error message] Does this happen every time? I think so. Other information: Using ATI fglrx driver 7.12 (aka 8.44.3). Boot with grub kernel parameter vga=0
I think this is related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/181729 I can confirm that after suspend, machine will promptly hibernate. Upon resuming from hibernate, normal operation. GPM gives message of "Your computer failed to Hibernate". Machine seems to be working correctly, but requests are buggy. Ubuntu 7.10 & ATI Catalyst 8.2 HP 6910p laptop.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
