An empty partial column should not be shown on the right edge of the window since it gives the user the inconvenient impression that there is something he or she is not seeing completely.

is an example where the problem can be seen. To the right from the "Balance" column there is an empty partial unlabelled column.

Fixed by r17530 on trunk.  Change will appear in GnuCash 2.3.x and onwards.
