Description Peter Shinners 2007-12-23 04:56:03 UTC
Window's that are running under a process owned by root should be displayed as an alternate color. This would make it easier to understand which windows are running with enhanced privileges.

Apparently this should be possible by starting with the _NET_WM_PID variable.

Could possibly key into some of the same changes planned for the XACE stuff (or whatever that X11 + selinux thingy was called)

Independently suggested at

Solving bug 549389 would add " (as root)" to windows of apps which were running as root. Reporter, would that also solve this bug?
Comment 4 Peter Shinners 2008-08-27 19:02:28 UTC
The (as root) solution would be fine for this suggestion.
The use of PackageKit also lessens the need to run entire processes with root priveledges.

Lovely, then this is a dupe. Thanks.
