GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 503064
E. does not recognise pgp signing by mutt (gpg)
Last modified: 2009-04-03 14:32:55 UTC
Please describe the problem: It seems that Evolution does not recognize, that a messages is singed, if it is sent by mutt. I attached two massages. Both are signed by myself and encrypted to myself. The first is sent with evolution and the second with mutt. The attached data which is copied from mutt, for you can see which parts of the message signed and encrypted. (That is different) Messages which are only signed but not encrypted are well displeyed as signed. First message: http://nopaste.info/e1329ae42f.html Second message: http://nopaste.info/2a75cdbee5.html I am using Evolution 2.12.1 and mutt Mutt 1.4.2.2i (2006-07-14). But I also noticed that with prior versions of both. Steps to reproduce: 1. write an pgp signed _and_ encrypted message with mutt 2. view the message with evolution Actual results: E. does show the user, that the message is encrypted. But not, that it is signed. It is not possible to verify the authenticity of the message. Quite the opposite: E. says that the message may be manipulated. Expected results: That E. says, that the messge is signed and encrypted. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: I wrote this problem to the E. mailing list. But it seems that nobody does know anything.
can you please post the examples here as an attachment? thanks.
Created attachment 100810 [details] Message encrypted and signed. Sent by E. Viewed with mutt E. will mark this message as signed and encrypted.
Created attachment 100811 [details] Message singed and encrypted by mutt. Viewed with mutt. E. will only mark this massage as encrypted, not as signed.
Created attachment 100812 [details] Screenshot of E.: Message signed and encrypted by E. is marked well.
Created attachment 100813 [details] Screenshot of E.: Message signed and encrypted by mutt. E. does not mark signing.
This sounds like bug #266147 which is in since evolution-data-server 2.25.92. Could you try with that version and report back, please? I believe it's the same issue, but want your confirmation before marking as a duplicate. Thanks in advance.
I read the description as well as the comments of the other bugs. For me it sounds exactly like the same problem. Therefore I would agree in marking it as a duplicate. I don't know what you mean with "in since evolution-data-server 2.25.92". I am currently using version 2.24.4 and the bug is already in there (despite it's older than 2.25.92). And it was already in before. (Don't know the former version of the data server)
Oh, I'm sorry, I meant "the fix is in since..." which means with that or higher version of evolution-data-server the problem should be fixed. Thanks for the update, I'm marking as a duplicate, then. When you'll be able, please test and feel free to reopen if the fix will not work for mutt-generated mails. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 266147 ***
