GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 502270
Cannot easily see the precise value of a number in a cell
Last modified: 2008-04-11 22:09:04 UTC
This was reported on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnumeric/+bug/111483 by: https://bugs.launchpad.net/~pot If a cell's format limits the number of significant figures, there is no easy way to look at the precise value. I suggest to have it work the way it does in Excel: when you select the cell containing the value, the entry area shows you the value with lots of decimal (I suppose it uses the Generic format).
Not sure about this. 1. Click in cell. 2. Right-click in "Sum=..." area at the bottom and select maximum precision. (Keeping open for further thoughts.)
Morten: I tried this, it doesn't change anything for me. When i re-click on the cell, I'm still shown the same number of decimals.
You are supposed to look in the "Sum" place.
Ahhhh, understood now ! I'll forward this to the original reporter.
Seems taken care of.
