GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 497936
Search-as-you-type bar not readable when theme text is white
Last modified: 2007-11-20 12:22:25 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have a dark theme with white text. Since the search bar turns bright yellow, there's no contrast, so I can't read what I've typed. The gnome widget does not change the default text color, but does change the background color. Steps to reproduce: 1. Switch to a dark theme with light-colored text 2. Open Rhythmbox or another application with search-as-you-type, like the Tracker search tool. 3. Start typing in the search bar. Actual results: The text is unreadable because of the super-low contrast Expected results: The text should (obviously) be readable. Perhaps the yellow could be a different color depending on the text color, or maybe the text could just be forced white. Does this happen every time? Yep. Other information: I believe this is a general problem with GTK+, since I have seen it in quite a few apps, but I'm not sure where it should be filed.

Not a standard GTK+ widget
