GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 492315
Applets changes panel_right_stick value when screen resolution temporarily changes
Last modified: 2012-05-14 13:41:16 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have set applets on my top panel this way http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10208169/panel_before_2.png but every time I ran mplayer in fullscren mode, some of applets on panel move to the right and changes their panel_right_stick in gconf to TRUE - see http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10208172/panel-after-2.png The problem happens even if applets are locked. It is irritating to have to correct the position of applets every time I use mplayer in fullsceen, and I do not know any way to workaround this behavior. Steps to reproduce: 1. arrange applets like in first screenshot 2. run mplayer fullscreen on some low resolution video 3. see panel applets changed position... Actual results: panel applets move Expected results: panel applets would not move Does this happen every time? yes Other information: I guess that the reason of this problem is that the resolution (used in mplayer fullscreen) was too low so applets touches right-side of panel and then changes panel_right_stick. This shouldn't happen, when they were not moved manually (by user). Generally it would be best to not change panel_right_stick value at all if the applet is locked. This solution would prevent this problem but keep panel_right_stick change when user moves applet manually.
It seems to me, that the problem is known: There is note "Fix positioning of applets when the panel size changes" at http://live.gnome.org/RoadMap in the section for Gnome 2.22
I can confirm this issue which is annoying me since a long time (and thus put myself on the CC list).
I think this can be closed now that the panel only supports three positions any more. At least here stuff seems to work out even with resolution changes.
Indeed.
