GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 491127
Should put its icon under System -> Preferences
Last modified: 2008-11-15 19:47:32 UTC
[Reported in Launchpad's Ubuntu bug 158104 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring-manager/+bug/158104 ] Currently, GNOME Keyring Manager's icon is in System -> Administration. This is not justified because: 1) this tool doesn't deal with any system-wide information, it's working on a per-user basis 2) it doesn't need to have administrator rights This is contributing to the confusion around Administration/Preferences menus. So please update the .desktop file for it to put its icon under System -> Preferences, just like for example Seahorse already does.

While we are at it, the name of gnome-keyring-manager is not good because it appears in a config menu. Therefore, "Manager" is redundant: it should not be Name=Keyring Manager but Name=Keyrings or Name=Password Keyrings (since we gain some space). I'm attaching an updated patch to solve these two issues. Could somebody at last look at this bug, simple but nice since most of wrong tools have corrected this?

gnome-keyring-manager has been deprecated and superseded by Seahorse more than one year ago. There has not been any active code development for more than a year. This bug will probably soon be closed as WONTFIX or OBSOLETE.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, gnome-keyring-manager won't be developed anymore and it has been superseded by Seahorse.
