GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 48454
nautilus -c gives errors
Last modified: 2005-01-19 22:33:53 UTC
When running nautilus -c with the swedish locale I get some error messages indicating that it's something wrong. It's things like expected: apa (11:e kopian) got: apa (11:a kopian) I don't know where the error is but there is obviously some error when printing the number 11:a (in swedish it should be 11:e). I talked with menthos and he didn't see any error in the .po file so it's probably something in the code. Also when I ran "nautilus -c" it outputs everything showed below but then it does not exit. It just sits there using no cpu. After a minute I killed it. Guess its an error but I never ran "nautilus -c" before so I don't know what it's supposed to do there. Here is the output (probably badly wrapped by bugzilla) $ nautilus -c running nautilus_self_check_search_uri FAIL: check failed in nautilus-search-uri.c, line 701 evaluated: nautilus_search_uri_to_human ("search:[][]file_name contains stuff") expected: Objekt som har "saker" i sina namn got: Objekt som har "stuff" i sina namn FAIL: check failed in nautilus-search-uri.c, line 706 evaluated: nautilus_search_uri_to_human ("search:[][]file_name contains stuff & file_type is file") expected: Objekt som har "saker" i sina namn och som är vanliga filer got: Objekt som har "stuff" i sina namn och som är vanliga filer FAIL: check failed in nautilus-search-uri.c, line 711 evaluated: nautilus_search_uri_to_human ("search:[][]file_name contains stuff & file_type is file" " & size smaller_than 2000") expected: Objekt som har "saker" i sina namn, som är vanliga filer och som är mindre än 2000 byte got: Objekt som har "stuff" i sina namn, som är vanliga filer och mindre än 2000 byte running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities running nautilus_self_check_file_operations FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2275 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (another copy)", 5), 1) expected: apa (tredje kopian) got: apa (3:e kopian) FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2276 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (another copy).txt", 5), 1) expected: apa (tredje kopian).txt got: apa (3:e kopian).txt FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2277 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo foo (another copy).txt", 5), 1) expected: apa apa (tredje kopian).txt got: apa apa (3:e kopian).txt FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2293 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (10th copy)", 5), 1) expected: apa (11:e kopian) got: apa (11:a kopian) FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2294 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (10th copy).txt", 5), 1) expected: apa (11:e kopian).txt got: apa (11:a kopian).txt FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2295 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (11th copy)", 5), 1) expected: apa (12:e kopian) got: apa (12:a kopian) FAIL: check failed in nautilus-file-operations.c, line 2296 evaluated: get_duplicate_name (dcgettext (((void *)0), "foo (11th copy).txt", 5), 1) expected: apa (12:e kopian).txt got: apa (12:a kopian).txt running nautilus_self_check_directory ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:18 -------
Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
Are you still having this problem?
I have nautilus 1.0.4 and there I still get the same FAIL-messages when I run "nautilus -c". Now at least it is terminating after it runs the self check. I still don't know what the self check is for, but since something is failing I thought you wanted to know.
Does this effect nautilus2?
louie: I don't get errors with nautilus2, do you?
Kjartan, menthos: are either of you guys seeing this problem in 1.1.x?
I get the same errors when running nautilus -c Not sure where that is coming from though.

Curtis C. Hovey has informed me that removing the dead Medusa code will fix this issue.
