Description Just Me 2007-10-05 17:20:08 UTC
Please describe the problem:
If i record videos, i am not able to load them into avidemux and edit them.

because it seems that the videos are not saved correct.

avidemux gives this error:

 Ogg file detected..

 First packet : not a header 80?

mplayer gives this error-message, but plays the video, also xine plays it too.:

Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
[theora @ 0x8939638]Missing extradata!
Could not open codec.
VDecoder init failed :(
Opening video decoder: [theora] Theora/VP3

Steps to reproduce:
1. record a video
2. open the console
3. loading it with avidemux is not possible
4. mplayer Video... shows the error too

Actual results:
avidemux denies loading the video, mplayer gives an error, but plays it

Expected results:
i expect that i can edit it with avidemux - i expect it to be saved in correct way

Does this happen every time?
yes

Still present in TRUNK.

I guess this is a bug in gstreamer or avidemux
Comment 2 Just Me 2007-11-18 23:01:11 UTC
Well,

while trying to play a recorded movie with mplayer, i get this error:

Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
[theora @ 0x88a96d8]Missing extradata!
Could not open codec.
VDecoder init failed :(

so it doubt that this is a bug in avidemux.

for me it seems that the videos are not saved with the correct "extradata".

So, what do you think?

video file recorded SVN version

It could be cheese it's fault. In the past video was not completely handled correctly. I just recorded a small file which I attached. mplayer and totem play this. Avidemux complains about it.

Can you try to play this file as well
Comment 4 Just Me 2007-11-19 14:42:14 UTC
well, the video plays, it really seems to be a avidemux bug.

thank you
