GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 482637
Ctrl+Alt+S overloads Window Manager mapping. Ctrl+S works just fine.
Last modified: 2008-01-03 04:18:06 UTC
Please describe the problem: Traditionally, Ctrl+Alt keyboard combinations were reserved for window managers. E.g., Enlightenment uses Ctrl+Alt+S to set a window "sticky" so it stays on all desktops. I use that feature all the time to move windows to different desktops. Given that Ctrl+S is the documented "save this message" shortcut, please eliminate the Ctrl+Alt+S mapping. Steps to reproduce: 1. Doubleclick on an email to open it in its own window. 2. In that window, type Ctrl+Alt+S. Notice it does the same thing as Ctrl+S. Notice that Ctrl+S is what is documented in the 'File' section of the toolbar. Actual results: Expected results: I would expect all Ctrl+Alt keyboard combinations to be Window Manager and/or X keyboard mappings. Does this happen every time? Other information:
> 1. Doubleclick on an email to open it in its own window. > 2. In that window, type Ctrl+Alt+S. Notice it does the same thing as Ctrl+S. it does nothing here. since evolution 2.6 we do not use any ctrl+alt combinations anymore afaik. which distro is this?
This is Debian unstable version 2.12.0 (latest available). If I need to file a Debian bug, I will.
this is fedora and metacity, can't say much about sawfish. :-/ would be good if someone could reproduce this.
I added a bug in Debian to get some more eyes on it and in case it is specific to that distribution. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=445044
More info: This bug seems to only occur when the text of the email message has the focus. So, after you double click to open a message in your Inbox in its own window, click in the text section of the window. Then, press Ctrl+Alt+S. Would this indicate a GtkHTML bug?
i still cannot reproduce this here, even with your latest how-to.
It appears to be fixed now in version 2.12.2. Not sure what fixed it.
