Description okelly.ciaran@gmail.com 2007-09-26 19:47:39 UTC
I am working off a Toshiba satellite with Ubuntu 7.10a. The forums all point to problems with sound and Toshiba laptops. Still, when I go to sound preferences and seek to test the ALSA architecture for 'Audio Conferencing' Sound Capture, I receive the following:
gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer.
Sound playback gives:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.
Music and Movies-Sound Playback gives:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=music: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.
Sound events-sound playback gives:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.

This is most likely a configuration problem (the error message is just very bad
and not the proper one that you should be seeing).

Go to System => Preferences => Sound and choose a different sound output
method or install the esd sound daemon.
