Description Andrey Cherepanov 2007-09-24 17:55:11 UTC
It's useful to implement multicolumn view if file selection dialog.
It helps to view more files.

Just a little bit more reasoning.

Current column view is OK for cases when filenames are long, so by default you see about same amount of files you would see in list view that Andrei requests.

But when you have a lot of files with short names (consider a typical ~/Photos/2007/09/27/ directory with a bunch of files like "IMG_6789.CR2"), list view works better. You just scroll less.
