GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 477952
Add "Name day" field to Contact/Personal information
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:34:00 UTC
"Name days are a tradition of attaching personal names to each day of the year, and celebrating the association of particular days with those for whom that day is named. It is common in large parts of Europe. The tradition originates from the Christian church calendar and the tradition to name children after saints, although in many countries it has no connection to the church anymore." (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namesdays) Name days are important to celebrate (and to not forget about them) in some parts of the world. It would be nice to add a field "Name day" to Contact/Personal information (next to Birthday and Anniversary). (In theory, it could be possible to compute the name day date from the contact's given name, but additional information would be needed for that - nationality and/or religious preference. For less common names not included in the standard calendars, the date is usually not computable at all. Therefore, it is probably easier to fill the information by hand.)
OpenSUSE 10.3 bug in bnc https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=277797
Bumping version to a stable release.
I'd see more sense if there was some server with API for this, or some distribution package with API to query/include automatically when creating new contacts...
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
