Description Hans de Graaff 2007-09-08 14:02:41 UTC
gnome-media 2.18 now contains an audio profile for AAC, but when I use this profile to rip a CD with sound juicer the metadata (artist, title, etc.) is not encoded in the file. I'm a bit hesitant to call this a bug, but it does make ripping a CD with sound juicer unusable to me.

I looked into this a while ago, but could not figure out how to encode this with the gstreamer pipelines. Hopefully this is a quick fix for someone who knows more about gstreamer.
Comment 1 Ronald Bultje 2007-09-08 14:24:38 UTC
That worked in 0.8 (I've tested that extensively before adding the profile), so a regression in gst, re-assigning.
Comment 2 Ronald Bultje 2007-09-08 14:25:05 UTC
And since it's a regression, I'll bump it from enhancement to critical.
Comment 3 Edward Hervey 2007-12-03 10:30:24 UTC
Works fine with gst-ffmpeg cvs and sound-juicer 2.20.1

Could you try with latest gst-ffmpeg pre-release ?
Comment 4 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2008-05-06 12:30:27 UTC
Ok, let's assume this is fixed then as nobody replied in months.
Comment 5 Hans de Graaff 2008-05-10 06:15:12 UTC
Thanks for the ping, I lost track of this bug. I've just tested things again and it still is not working for me. I'm currently using:

sound-juicer 2.22.0
gstreamer 0.10.19
gst-plugins-ffmpeg 0.10.2
gst-plugins-faac 0.10.5

Since comment 3 mentioned gst-ffmpeg I tried to deinstall gst-plugins-faac, but if I do that then I can no longer select the AAC profile in sound juicer. With gst-plugins-ffmpeg en gst-plugins-faac I don't get the artist info in the .m4a file.

Could it be that another gst-plugin module is needed to encode this info?
Comment 6 Edward Hervey 2008-05-14 16:06:29 UTC
Hans : we're about to release gst-ffmpeg 0.10.4, could you try with the 0.10.3.2 pre-release available here:

http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/src/gst-ffmpeg/pre/
Comment 7 Hans de Graaff 2008-05-14 17:53:41 UTC
I'm afraid that I don't have time right now to play with the pre-release (maybe this weekend), but I did just test with gst-plugins-ffmpeg-0.10.3 and did not see any difference.

If there is additional information that may be helpful, or if you can provide me with some pointers to track this problem down further I'd be happy to dig around a bit more.
