Merge copy and move dialogues when they have the same target
Last modified: 2008-01-18 01:59:36 UTC
The copy and move dialogues should be merged when they have the same target. I am going to do a screenshot tour in order to show what I mean :)

Created attachment 95063 [details] current behavior This is the current behavior of nautilus. It creates a window for every copy task although the target is the same directory. This is annoying in some situations. For example, I use drag and drop to copy music to my mp3 player from Rhythmbox. I select an artist, mark some titles, move it to the mp3 player, select the next artist, mark some titles, move it to the mp3 player and so on. I sometimes have 10 copy windows in my taskbar.

When Nautilus detects a second copy action or a second moving action, it should merge this to the existing copying / moving dialogue. That dialogue should appear on the foreground again when the user requests the action. It should change so that the number of files to be copied is correct and so that the source directories are added. Also, a nice looking note should be added saying that Nautilus merged the progresses. Discussion welcome :)
In Nautilus 2.21.x, the file operations have just a dialog, much like the one you are proposing, but with a progress bar for each task. I'm closing this as OBSOLETE.
