All those crashes happen on FC7. Bastien, can you reproduce the crash?

Dear reporters, can anybody of you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so and reopen this bug or report a new one. Thanks in advance!

Dear reporters, please help us fixing this bug by installing some debug packages[1] and providing a stack trace with debugging symbols! Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so and reopen this bug or report a new one. Thanks in advance! [1] if you use Fedora, please install gnome-desktop-debuginfo, glib2-debuginfo, gtk2-debuginfo, gnome-media-debuginfo and libbonoboui-debuginfo. Thanks a lot!
This bug is on the auto-stacktrace-reject list. Fewer new duplicates does not indicate this issue to magically have vanished. Please see http://live.gnome.org/Bugsquad/AutoReject for more info. Users reporting this bug will receive an email pointing them to comment #177.

bastien: good to know. i've added a link to http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions?action=show#head-2bbde37c5dfaa92a7d04b913bb2d4fa861e68c1b , however any fedora qa folks may update that text because it's probably way too complicated.

Thanks a lot! > I'm sorry but although I was one of the reporters I have now unloaded Linux off my hard drive (Mandriva Spring 2007). I followed the original instructions to get debugging symbols for Mandriva, not once but twice to make sure I was doing it right. I still was not getting debugging symbols. It did not seem to make much difference.

(In reply to comment #215) I installed Fedora 8, which comes with: GNOME Version 2.20.1 Distributor Red Hat, Inc Build Date: 10/15/2007 Volume Applet 2.20.0 Volume control for your GNOME Panel. Using GStreamer 0.10. © 2004 Ronald Bultje I've performed more or less the same actions, but the volume control works fine :) I will install the requested debug packages, if the applet crashes, I will send the trace info.
reply to comment #215 I followed the steps for getting debug symbols, for in my case Mandriva Spring 2007 Powerpack. I have just reiterated the steps to get the commands to past into a console and here is what I got: urpmi.addmedia -debugmain ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/main/release with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia --update -debugmain_updates ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/main/updates with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia -debugcontrib ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/contrib/release with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia --update -debugcontrib_updates ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/contrib/updates with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia -debugnon-free ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/non-free/release with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia --update -debugnon-free_updates ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.1/i586/media/non-free/updates with media_info/hdlist.cz You can see if it is correct. Anyway if it is wrong I have uninstalled Mandriva so am unlikely to retry. I have uninstalled for a lot of other reasons; it had so much instability.

I > have uninstalled for a lot of other reasons; it had so much instability. > The first part of the above comment "reiterated" is how I think I did it in the first instance. That is quite a few months ago now so I am not exactly certain. I cannot recall if the volume control crashed after I did this but I still could not get debug symbols for other crashes.

(42 rejected traces so far.) i wonder if this is still a blocker.
still 42 rejected traces so far. also cannot find many duplicates in crash.gnome.org. removing blocker status.
Any news on this? Did that get fixed? How? Can we close this one?
Yes, you can. Thank you.
