Created attachment 94497 [details] evolution strace this is a strace of the crashing evolution process
I reported it to the Debian BTS, too: http://bugs.debian.org/439880 Maybe other software components/dependencies create this problem.

The problem of crashing evolution on Debian sid since 2007-08-27 is the libxml2 2.6.30.dfsg-1 The temporary workaround is to downgrade libxml2 to 2.6.29.dfsg-1 You can find the Debian bug report at http://bugs.debian.org/439843 Since today 2007-08-29 there is a new libxml2 package uploaded to Debian sid/unstable which should be available in sid tomorrow 2007-08-30. The version is 2.6.30.dfsg-2.

Hi, Reading Noel's comment http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470817#c9, I guess this bug can be closed. I can also confirm that I haven't faced this issue for months now (Debian sid amd64) Cheers, Julien
Thanks Julien.
