Description Sjoerd Simons 2007-08-24 14:06:56 UTC
Hi,

For example empathy-new-message is available in 16x16 and 22x22. While
  empathy-availabe is 16x16 and scalable.

This cause my panel to start jumping when a new message comes in. As the
normal available icon is scaled as big as my panel supports, while the
new-message icon is show at 22x22.. Which makes my panel resize itself..

  Sjoerd

I don't have SVG for all icons. Maybe some tango artists can help here?
Comment 2 Cosimo Cecchi 2007-09-11 13:24:05 UTC
Who is the author of empathy-new-message.png and empathy-message.png? Maybe we can CC someone to help us here, as have panel acting weird when you receive a new message is very annoying.
Comment 3 Xavier Claessens 2007-11-03 16:35:39 UTC
I would appreciate to have svg and png for all icons and sizes, I need the help of inkscape gurus for that, I have no idea how it works.

Btw, scalable icons should be at least >=48x48, it seems it's not the case of all svg icons with _scalable_ name, that need to be fixed.
Comment 6 Mattias Eriksson 2007-11-04 13:50:32 UTC
Why just not use the same icons as pidgin? They are clean, simple and tango!
Comment 7 Jaap A. Haitsma 2007-11-04 16:46:20 UTC
I would vote to get general IM icons into the icon naming spec.

http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html

Some of them like status of users (idle, away, online, etc) are already in the spec

I partly fixed this bug by adding 22x22, 24x24 and 48x48 PNGs for status icons. The status icon does not resize anymore.

However we still need SVGs for im-message, im-message-new and im-user-typing.

The status icons in the "gnome-colors" icon theme[1].

Available in scalable, 16x16, and 22x22.

Empathy now uses status icon from gnome-icon-theme.
Remaining icons which are not available in all sizes are the message and message-new icons: bug #615753
