Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://www.gnome.org/projects/totem/#bugs for more information on how to do so and reopen this bug or report a new one. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry, but that stacktrace isn't useful either. Could you install the gstreamer debug packages as well, please.

Could you tell us the version of GStreamer you're using, and give precise instructions on how you reproduce the crash, please?

To find your GStreamer version, run "gst-inspect-0.10 --version" and paste the output here. Thanks.
Comment 6 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 10:24:31 UTC
$ gst-inspect-0.10 --version
gst-inspect-0.10 version 0.10.13
GStreamer 0.10.13

Just some notes (now I am awake again ;)). When I try to play a .wmv, I get a SELinux alert. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250487. The RedHat guys say that it is caused by the decoder, which I downloaded from freshrpms.

So I also contacted the freshrpms guy. What do you think? Is it realistic that this is caused by the decoder?
Comment 7 Bastien Nocera 2007-09-02 10:33:51 UTC
If this is an SELinux error, please tell us which plugin is causing the problem (is it gstreamer-ffmpeg?) as asked in the Red Hat bugzilla.
Comment 8 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 10:53:51 UTC
Seems to be caused by libgstalsa.so
Comment 9 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 10:55:55 UTC
wait, that was wrong. i have to investigate harder.
Comment 10 Tim-Philipp Müller 2007-09-02 11:11:05 UTC
You seem to be using pitfdll (win32 .dll codec wrapper, pretty much unmaintained these days, and not the best code either). Doesn't really surprise me that that might lead to SELinux warnings or problems in general - I suggest you uninstall it.
Comment 11 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 11:20:26 UTC
Okay, libpitfdll.so is responsible for the playback. Afaik, it uses w32codecs so I am going to try to update them.

Package is gstreamer-pitfdll-0.9.1.1-1.fc7
Comment 12 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 11:21:23 UTC
That was the conclusion that I just ran into :)

Thanks for your help..
Comment 13 Martin Jürgens 2007-09-02 11:25:47 UTC
I have contacted the freshrpms maintainer that he should better remove pitfdll from his repos, as it seems to cause some problems.
Comment 14 Philip Withnall 2008-02-27 22:01:57 UTC
Resolving as notgnome as it's a problem with pitfdll.
