GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 468455
Getting to actions page is non-obvious
Last modified: 2008-05-01 10:16:56 UTC
Currently the actions page can be accessed in 2 ways: * ctrl-pressing a result line * pressing the "right" key on a result line Both of them are non-obvious to me, I just learned about the actions page because I looked for information about the ">" sign on the web and found the release notes. For key-navigation, the ">" seems natural, but until I read the notes, I didn't even know about the key nav... So I expected the ">" to be some kind of button... would it be possible to make it clickable? perhaps underline/bold it on mouse-over and make it clickable. Pressing ctrl is not obvious and takes too long for a mouse-only user. The other solution would be to give the user an action menu when right-clicking a result row. Actually, I would implement both...
Much better in trunk! I would however make the ">" even more obvious... can you embed a gtk button with a "->" icon there?
At least make the ">" turn bold on mouseover and change the mouse pointer to the hand (the one that appears on URLs) I think this would greatly help already and would be in the scope of the UI freeze
I changed it a little bit today. An arrow is now displayed on the right that changes its color when you hover over the row. A tooltip is coming soon.
Nice! However, the hover color should be a darker gray. It seems to work on some themes like Crux but on Clearlooks it's very hard to see and on Gilouche it's totally invisible.
I changed the hover color to theme's dark color. I tested it with a couple if themes and it always stayed visible. In addition, the arrow has now always the same height as the font size. That way we don't end up with huge arrows when the match has more than one line.
A tooltip is now displayed when you hover over the arrow, too. This should fix this issue.
