GNOME is API frozen now.  This has to wait for next GNOME release.

If this patch not being applied yet to svn is blocking someone's work then I guess we should branch now.  I don't want to be blamed for slowing down other people's efforts :P

Actually I made this patch because I[1] and a friend[2] are working on a project[3] that need to create symbolic links, but it is not a thing of life and death for the project to do this. We would like that, in the future, this function exist in gnome-python but for now we can continue working without it.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
