GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 467343
keyboad layout in Xnest
Last modified: 2010-03-26 12:41:32 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sabayon/+bug/47910 "Binary package hint: sabayon Hi, I'am a French user, my system use French keyboard layout. It would be cool if when I edit a profile, the keyboard layout in Xnest follow the layout of my current session. 1. Have French keybord layout 2. start sabayon, create a profile, and edit (lauch Xnest) 3. open a terminal/text editor, type some chars that change between ketboard layout. I get an English keybord in Xnest and a French one in my current session. ..."
But what if the user profile wants to have another keyboard layout? :) This is indeed a usability problem for the system administrator, and I'm not sure how to fix things with Xnest. This is *somewhat* related to "enforce mandatory". We may want to replace that by having "preview" and "edit" modes --- in Preview, the child session would act just as it would for a normal user (with its own keyboard layout and mandatory settings applied), and in Edit it would be for the sysadmin to tweak freely.
See also bug #576447 for a non-working keyboard in general.
Did the move to Xephyr fix this? Please try a version newer than 2.28 or so, (the current version, 2.29.2 would be ideal), and let us know.
