It seems gnome-applets has not branched for Gnome 2.18, and has bumped library requirements to unstable GTK. This effectively means the stable branch of gucharmap is unbuildable against stable library versions, which is unacceptable.

Please revert or (better) branch for gnome-2-18 and make sure that branch builds against stable platform libraries.

I guess you already discovered that I'm to blame for changing the required versions of gtk+. My apologies I got permission to apply the tooltip patch and did not notice that gnome-applets did not branch yet. I'll remember to look at it the next time I apply a patch
