When I go into "System :: Preferences :: Keyboard Shortcuts" I see a whole bunch of things that are currently bound to hexadecimal values. For example, "Volume mute" is bound to "0xa0" which makes zero sense to me.

I think it would be a huge improvement for new users to actually print the shortcut keys here. Users migrating from other OSes can then use this dialog to learn new shortcut keys and thus use GNOME more efficiently.

I found this bug using Ubuntu Gutsy tribe4 test version. I found many duplicate reports of this bug in Ubuntu launchpad but for some reason, no body seemed to have reported it upstream to GNOME. Inside launchpad you can see this bug reported as 25002 etc etc.

This is not a bug in the shortcuts capplet. It does show the key names *if the keys actually have names*. If they aren't mapped to proper keysyms, there's nothing we can do about it. Your keymap needs to be fixed (see xmodmap).
