GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 465353
Duplicate import check can be tricked by symlinks
Last modified: 2008-03-26 00:01:46 UTC
Hi, When importing a music source from a local folder, it is possible to import the same file twice if they *appear* to have different paths; say if the file is music/foo.ogg, and the music directory is symlinked to My_Music, banshee will not notice that My_Music/foo.ogg is the same file as music/foo.ogg if you import both into your library. Bye Debian Bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=431916
Please specify the latest version of banshee you have been able to test this against or let us know that this is no longer a problem. Thank you for helping us keep track of your bug.
0.13.0 and .1, it's still a problem.
I'd think if the files were symlinked, this would be expected behavior. How could Banshee detect that these are ultimately the same file?
